Building a Strong Business and Community with Pamela Slim

Ten years ago, I wanted to start a business. I had previously partnered with a woman to launch a marketing company, but we parted ways when things didn’t work out between us.

A couple of years later, in 2010, I decided I was ready to strike out on my own.

But, I was scared.

I had been reading books and blogs, but I felt like I needed some personal guidance and accountability to push me forward.

So, I hired my very first coach. And that coach is today’s guest, Pamela Slim.

Pamela is an author, coach, consultant and community builder. I originally found Pam through her wildly successful blog and book, Escape from Cubicle Nation. At the time, she coached would-be entrepreneurs to leave the corporate world and strike out on their own venture.

Now, her practice focuses on entrepreneurs who are in growth mode.

Pamela and her husband, Daryl, also founded The Main Street Learning Lab, a grassroots, community-based think tank for small business economic acceleration in their hometown of Mesa, Arizona.

Today, on the show, we talk about everything from the importance of building community, meeting your neighbors and connecting with people who are different from you to overcoming fears associated with starting and business and marketing it.

This was such a beautiful conversation with someone who was pivotal in helping me make my leap toward entrepreneurship. If you want the recipe for building a thriving, beautiful life, Pam offers the ingredients you’ll need in this episode. I hope you enjoy it.
