The Power of Believing in Yourself with Courtenay Rogers

Courtenay Rogers has held many roles in her life. She’s a mom, a navy veteran and former social enterprise founder and entrepreneur. But one role she never expected to take on was that of a politician.

But after Courtenay got heavily involved in her daughter’s school, she received a phone call encouraging her to run for state representative.

In today’s conversation, you’ll hear about her campaign for office and all of the other brave things she has done along the way, including leaving a bad marriage, raising her daughter by herself and starting a social enterprise.

Courtenay’s story is proof that we are all capable of more than we think. And she’s made it her goal to encourage others––especially women––to believe in themselves. I hope you find my conversation with Courtenay as inspiring as I did.

Brave, Beautiful Stories – Aireka Harvell

I’m introducing a new segment of the show to highlight and celebrate stories of bravery, courage, empathy and positivity.

Today’s episode features Aireka Harvell. You might remember her from episode 24. Right after we aired that episode, Aireka launched a Facebook group to recruit and coordinate volunteers to pick up and deliver groceries to seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic. The group has more than 150 volunteers ready to help seniors in need. Plus, her group and her company, NODAT, has joined in with the state-sponsored program to call and check on seniors.

You can check out a news story about what Aireka is doing here.

You can join her volunteer group on Facebook here

I’m in awe of Aireka’s acts of service and she selflessly uses her gifts to help those who are most vulnerable––especially right now.  Thank you for being such a brave, beautiful hero, Aireka!

Do you have a story like this to share? This is the perfect opportunity to give a shout out to the people who are making our world better right now. You can send your brave, beautiful stories to feedback@makeitbrave.com or to makeitbrave.com/contact.
